The EnergyPlus module facilitates the setup, export and execution of projects using EnergyPlus to obtain hourly year-round information on heating and cooling energy requirements, surface temperatures and heat fluxes. A key feature of ODS is the ability to "map" results from EnergyPlus to CFD and vise-versa.
This allows for quick setup of complex CFD cases based on boundary conditions from the EnergyPlus simulation. Similarly CFD modelling results (using the Virtual Wind Tunnel) can be used to establish pressure coefficient boundary conditions that are used for a detailed Airflow Network calculation in EnergyPlus. This allows a very high degree of accuracy when carrying out detailed natural-ventilation and mixed-mode designs.
